It was around 3pm on a cloudy afternoon just outside the centre of Rome.
I had just arrived after a long journey, lasting hours, from Eastern Europe.
There were so many of us and we all came from unpleasant conditions.
I wasn't happy. I didn't feel alone because there were always so many people passing by. But no one chose me, obviously I didn't meet the standard.
Yes, because unfortunately in this world, still to be improved, there is a standard to which people refer.
They were not sure about the purity of my breed. I look like a bull terrier but with spots that make you think I am not one at all.
My unkempt fur and my lost gaze reinforced the thesis.
But then, on that very day, a boy stops and looks at me intensely.
Who knows what he saw in my eyes. Love, suffering, sadness or the search for happiness that comes from a simple life, with what really matters.
He picked me up and took me home with him.
Unconditional affection awaited me, a fabulous place, surrounded by nature where I could finally run around and be free.
I admit that I have made some disasters at home. But I have never received too severe punishments and my master has never made me skip a meal.
Since then our lives have never been divided.
Even today I am free to go for long walks, to be in the company of many other animals, much bigger than me and to finally be happy.
I live a simple life, eating healthy food regularly and receiving lots of cuddles every day from many people I meet.
Dissatisfied with the foods he found on the market, my best friend decided to create a fantastic product created with an alternative method to the classic kibble.
It is a healthy product that makes me strong and happy, which respects the environment in which we live.
So his love for me gave rise to the line of foods that today bear my name: Barnie's Pet Food.
I discovered that I don't need much to be happy.
The love of my master and his family, a lot of freedom and eating healthy food regularly, produced only in Italy that respects the values that contribute to improving the planet we live in.
Now I feel I have a mission, to make my products known to bring happiness to all my 4-legged friends.
